With Spring Break a little more than a week away, the gym is crowded as ever and girls are prepping their skin for the Florida sun. But once Spring Break is over, how can you maintain your hot bod and glowing skin?

Making Your Tan Last
MOISTURIZE. This is the most important thing that can be added to your beauty regimen to keep your skin glowing. Even though you’re going to get some sun to give you actual color, keeping your skin hydrated revives your skin from the harsh effects of the sun. Whether you’re tan or pale, moisturizing adds a healthy radiance to your skin, creating a huge difference in your skin’s look from when it’s dehydrated versus hydrated.

When you first get back, use a rich body lotion (nothing fancy) that will replenish your skin from being out in the sun and at the beach. I love Eucerin’s Skin Calming Daily Moisturizing Crème. The gentle, non-greasy formula provides 24 hour moisture to soothe dry skin. Even if your skin doesn’t feel dry or itchy, it needs to be taken care of from the sun and salt water. Another great product is Vaseline’s Cocoa Radiant Spray & Go Moisturizer. This is the first drugstore spray moisturizer I’ve seen and it’s great because you can just spritz it on after the shower, which is the best time to moisturize, since your skin locks in additional moisture. The cocoa butter ingredient is known to instantly give a glow to your skin.

When you think your tan is beginning to fade, mix self-tanner or gradual self-tanner with your moisturizer. When you add a gradual self-tanner, like L’Oreal or Jergens, it helps you maintain color instead of adding more of it. One of my favorites is L’Oreal’s Sublime Glow Daily Moisturizer, which is a little more natural looking than Jergens and has some shimmer in it to make your skin look even more radiant. If you want to get more tan, go ahead and use the product without mixing it!

Maintaining Your Spring Break Body
One of the most important rules in dieting is to not diet. Eating healthy should be a lifestyle, and even though many of us have tried fad diets, like the “5-Day Detox” or “Lemonade Diet”, it’s not permanent. When you get back from Spring Break, make healthy choices that are easily attainable and doable.

Sometimes it’s impossible to make it to the gym on a daily basis because of the typical college routine, whether that’s homework, work or any weekend craziness. A realistic goal would be to go to the gym four to five times a week for an hour and a half. During that time, it’s important to incorporate cardio, weight training and stretching. Keeping your body in shape is a constant job, so you shouldn’t stop working out after spring break.

Healthy eating is another important aspect in keeping your body in shape and it does not mean you have to eat a boring salad for lunch and dinner. One of my favorite things to make for dinner is salmon. I usually just pick up one piece at Lowe’s or Harris Teeter, add whatever ingredients I want, wrap it in tin foil and throw it in the oven. It’s so easy and one of the healthiest foods you can have. I personally just like my salmon baked with olive oil, lemon, salt and pepper. I also recommend have a sweet potato for dinner because it’s super healthy, packed with vitamins A, B6, C, D, iron and magnesium. Also, since it’s a naturally sweet food, it can help curb your cravings for that carnival cookie at Acorn. Try baking it and putting on a dollop of some cinnamon and Chobani yogurt, which is the perfect replacement for sour cream.

It’s OK to treat yourself as well. Nothing is bad for you as long as you eat in moderation. Go ahead and get the cookie from Acorn every once in a while. Order the bagel and cream cheese at Panera if you’re still feeling sick from the night before. Limiting yourself actually makes you want to rebel from your diet. If you’re really craving something, it won’t be devastating to eat it, as long as it’s in moderation.
