This gorgeous weather may come and go, but Elon girls have to be ready for the start of spring! Soon, bright colors will be making an appearance back into our wardrobes, and spring fever will be among us. The transition will be quick and tough, especially since it’s only February!  Here are some ideas on what can make an appearance this month, and what can stay in the closet until spring fully rolls around.

1. Sandals: Break them out of the closet! Sandals are a great way to make the random sunny days last even longer. Enjoy a pedicure and strut your stuff in wedges, and other forms of cute shoes. But be advised: Gladiator sandals are out this year, so find a cute new pair of sandals to make the switch to!

2. Shorts: Yes shorts can be worn, but save them for the rare 78 degree days! They can be a quick and easy transition with a tank top and a cardigan, just in case the wind can get chilly!

3. Rain Boots: Spring has one big downside: RAIN! Keep dry in a cute pair of rain boots that will be sure to make a splash! Maybe replace your old ones with a cute new pair with spring colors on them, like light blue, pink, or yellow.

4. White: I don’t stand by the rule to only wear white shoes from May to September. If you want to wear white flats, who is to stop you? White in general is an all around color, perfect for winter snow and perfect for Spring to bring in a bit of light to a darker wardrobe!

Now for the things that should stay in a closet for a few more months…

1. Swimsuit: Sorry ladies, this one has to stay in a closet for a little while longer. It is still too cold out to wear swimsuits and tan outside by Lake Mary Nell. Don’t push swimsuit season on us all just yet. (I still have to get fit!)

2. Camisoles I don’t care how hot it is outside, these are a strictly summer top. If you have to wear them, pair a cami with a cardigan, or another shirt you can layer on top of it. Layers are a wonderful way to bring clothes from other seasons into wardrobes.

3. Floral Sundresses: These need to wait a little while longer, but they are almost ready to break out of the wardrobe! If you must wear a summery dress, pair it with a cardigan or tights that work with the outfit.

The choice is ultimately yours for fashion. Other HerCampus articles have excellent ideas about what fits into spring style and what should wait a little while more. For those cold days, don’t cry about putting on the winter jacket: Spring is just around the corner!
