Can you believe it collegiettes?! Fall has officially arrived! Meaning the time has come to break out the sweaters and scarves, relish in the crisp autumnal air, and indulge in just about anything “pumpkin spice” (if you haven’t already). Everything from the color change in leaves and cozy cardigans to pumpkin picking and perfect temperatures makes fall one of the best times of the year.  But it’s sure to fly by just as quickly as it arrived, so make sure to bask in this lovely season while it lasts! Aside from slipping on your boots, sipping on Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Lattes, and tuning into ABC Family’s 13 Nights of Halloween, here are a few more ideas to get you in the autumnal spirit here at Elon:

Iseley Farms

With fall comes Halloween and with Halloween comes pumpkin carving! Round up some friends and spend an afternoon perusing the pumpkin patch right down the road at Burlington’s Iseley Farms. After picking out the perfect pumpkin, you can even take a hayride around the farm. Don’t forget to check out their seasonal fresh produce like winter squash and sweet potatoes before heading out! Visit their website to find out farm hours and days for booking hayride reservations.

Fall Recipes

Have you ever had a meal that just tastes like fall? With pumpkin-everything these days, it’s pretty hard not to. Get some friends together and try out the craze for yourselves! Dig up fun recipes online that call for ingredients like pumpkin, squash, sweet potatoes, or even honey crisp apples. Use the recipes to whip up a dish with sides like creamy butternut squash soup or roasted root veggies. Nothing’s cozier than a home cooked meal! Here are a few fall recipes we dare you to try.

Haw River Trail or Hanging Rock Hike

If you have even the slightest appreciation for nature or the colorful foliage that comes along with fall, you definitely don’t want to miss out on these two breathtaking trails. Haw River Trail is located closer to campus than Hanging Rock State Park, but if you have the opportunity to check out both, I highly suggest it. These trails are phenomenal around this time of year, and the perfect way to get out and get some exercise, too! Visit their websites for more information.
