Sophomore Brooklynn Lowrey is an up and coming icon on the Elon style scene. She has certainly begun to make her mark on campus, already holding the position as The Edge Magazine’s Creative Director and Fashion editor after coming to Elon last spring, and she also owns and operates her own fashion and lifestyle blog, Brooklynn Street–check it out: http://www.brooklynnstreet.com/

Indulge yourself in Brooklynn’s creative mind on her Instagram.

What is Brooklynn Street’s “six word story”?

 – A reflection and creation of me.

How did you come up with the idea for Brooklynn Street?

   – I had always liked that idea of building my own brand. During high school, I needed a creative outlook so Brooklynn Street finally took form to reflect my style, image and ideas.

Where do you get your fashion inspiration?

  – As cliche as it may sound, I find inspiration through everything. Obviously Tumblr, Instagram and Pinterest play a big role, but I also get a lot of inspiration from my mother’s style when she was younger. She grew up in 1970s & 80s Los Angeles and I am in love with all the old pictures and outfits.

You’ve already managed to work your way up to Creative Director and Fashion editor on the Edge after only one semester here. How has this helped you with your blog?

  – In the short time I have been with the Edge, I have learned so many things! The staff is filled with some of the most creative and talented people I have ever met. They have opened my eyes to the editorial world, which inspires me to present Brooklynn Street content in more innovative and creative ways.

What is your favorite part about fashion blogging and working on the Edge?

  – My favorite part would have to be the moment it goes public. Yes, I love the work and the styling that goes on behind the scenes, but there is something so exhilarating about sharing something with the world you’ve worked so hard on and are so proud of.

What’s the coolest opportunity your work has given you?

  – I think one of my favorite things that Brooklynn Street helped open doors to was to assist in artist relations for Westone, a company that builds in ear hearing monitors for musicians. I got to help blog for them and met so many people from around the world.

What’s your dream job?

 – My ultimate dream job doesn’t really have a title, but I think the closest thing would be a creative director. I would be running my own brand and have a foot in the door with all forms of style, and possibly my own publication, who knows!
