Blake Lively ends her lifestyle brand with class and dignity

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Elon chapter.

Take notes, collegiettes! The newest mom on the block, Blake Lively, shared some pretty big news on Wednesday. The blonde bombshell informed Vogue.com that her lifestyle brand, Preserve, will no longer run its course.

“We have an incredible team of people who do beautiful work, but we launched the site before it was ready,” said Blake. “And it never caught up to its original mission: It’s not making a difference in people’s lives, whether superficially or in a meaningful way.”

Blake started the journey of Preserve about one year ago. She told TIME magazine in June that the website was not where she wanted it to be and wished she had waited another six months to start it.

“I never thought I would have the bravery to actually do that, to take the site dark and to say, ‘You know what? I haven’t created something that is as true and impactful as I know it can and will be. And I’m not going to continue to chase my tail and continue to put a product out there that we, as a team, are not proud of,'” she said.

Wow. We are so impressed. Blake isn’t trying to beat around the bush, she made something she really didn’t think hit home with an audience and she isn’t afraid to stop something she isn’t proud of.

We think that’s pretty awesome. Although Blake has taken this big step in her career, she knows there will also be some backlash.

“I’m going to take this hit, and the only way I can prove all the negative reactions wrong is to come back with a plan that will rock people. And I have that plan,” said Blake.

Blake hopes to start a new journey, aside from Preserve. The website will be officially shutting down on Oct. 9th. We are excited to see what is in store for this intelligent, strong woman!
