Wintertime can create some trouble for dates. What can you do when its freezing outside and you still want to be able to wear those Jimmy Choo pumps you knew you shouldn’t have bought? Fashionable feet are no laughing matter, and neither is coming up with date ideas for the coldest months of the year. Here are some ideas to let you rock your signature style, while giving you the chance to snuggle up to your sweetie.

1.     Greensboro First Friday
If you want to get out of Elon on a date, this is the ticket. Only a short drive from campus is Greensboro, and on the first Friday of every month is “First Friday”. This is a day where vendors set up outside, and every store and restaurant is open until 10 pm, letting you walk the streets and see what Greensboro has to offer.

2.     Fire Pit
Live off campus? Want a romantic evening? Get yourself a fire pit! They aren’t expensive and they create an easy date. Snuggle up outside and build a fire, you can watch it or even make s’mores. Either way you have a romantic atmosphere, and you can even add wine if you’re over 21.

3.     Luminaries
Elon’s Luminaries are an annual tradition. This year they are being lit December 1st, at 6:30. Grab your sweetie and go watch the lighting. There will be cider, singing and the chance to walk through the luminaries and hold hands.

4.     Stargazing
Who doesn’t like stargazing? Take a blanket outside, or even on the intramural fields, and lay down. It is amazing how many stars you can see on a clear night from Elon. Get out there in your cutest jacket and hat and snuggle up close. This date will give you opportunity to have long conversations, or long kisses.

5.     Concerts
This is another great way to get outside the bubble. Concerts are a great date night. You can get dinner before, sing your heart out, and dance the night away, all with that cute guy you have your eye on. Need an idea on where to look? Check out Greensboro, Chapel Hill, Durham and Raleigh. You’re almost guaranteed to find something you’ll love.

6.     Coffee Date
Remember all those movies you saw where couples fall in love over coffee? Well here is your chance. Head on over to acorn, or make a cup yourself. This is the type of date where you can chat about anything, books, movies, music – your choice!

7.     Movie Night
Too cold to go outside? Stay in and watch a movie with your sweetie. If it’s your night to pick I suggest Love Actually, a Christmas movie that is guaranteed to lift your heart and make you realize the passion of love. If you want something a little less romantic, how about Death at a Funeral (the U.K. version), it will make you laugh so hard you cry, while still carrying a hint of love.

8.     Decorate a Mini Christmas Tree
Creating your own Christmas tree on a date is an easy and fun way to spend some time. Get a mini tree from the store, some tinsel, ornaments and lights. You can set up your tree together, and even bake some gingerbread cookies.
