You Can Always Retake a Class, But You Can Never Relive A Party

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at ECU chapter.

College is a good time unless it’s finals week, here are 6 ways to prepare yourself for the hell week that is about to come:

1.     Know your mistakes and do not make them again

If you are taking Math and you forget the same type of problem over and over again practice it until you know it by memory. Figure out what you are doing wrong and make it so you will never do it wrong again and by test time, whether you are anxiety or you blank you will know the information so well you get the right answers.

2.     Plan Ahead

Plan your every day up until finals, even if it means when you will study for each class and how much time you will spend on one versus another

3.     Study Hard and Be confident in what you studied

Eliminate your distractions whether it is your study group or your cell phone or Facebook. Make the environment you study in completely conducive as a work environment.

4.     Don’t get cocky

Just because you passed every test or have great success in the class so far does not mean you stop studying or trying just as hard. You study harder, you never know when a professor will throw you a curveball and make the final harder than you thought it would be.

5.     Make time for yourself

Do not stress yourself about finals. The key is pacing yourself and scheduling NOT procrastinating and staying up until 3 am. Allow yourself room for breaks to watch Netflix or listen to music or eat McDonalds. Do not get so caught up in the swing of things that you forget to take care of yourself, mentally or physically.

6.     Straighten your priorities

Just because Kappa Gamma Psi or the football team is having a party and every single person you know is going does not mean you go, especially if you are not confident in your assignment or studying. There will be other parties, you can not always retake a class despite what the saying says. There will be other events and there will be other times to hang out with your friends. Do not forget that we came to college to graduate, college does not last forever.

Finals are coming…Happy Studying!!
