Thoughts Every Sorority Girl Has While Preparing for Formal
1. Should I actually try to find a date?
I mean, having a boy for the pictures looks good, but let’s face it – You’d have more fun taking your best friend. Plus, you know she’ll act a fool on the dance floor with you…with no judgment whatsoever.
2. Long dress or short dress?
Long dresses are tricky – If you’re tall they’re either too short to wear with heels or just flat out awkward looking. I don’t care to look like a sheet-covered skyscraper, thanks but no thanks. Short dresses? Sure they’re cute and flattering, but do you really want to spend the entire night making sure your butt is covered? FANCY ROMPER IT IS!
3. Are these heels too high?
Probably. Go for something you know you’ll be able to both arrive in and leave in. Maybe even go for wedges?
4. What hairstyle should I attempt?
This is where Pinterest becomes your best friend! You’ll find at least 5 different styles you’ll want to attempt, but after failing at all of them in a test run you’ll just decide to go with a simple half up-half down look and maybe add in a couple curls. Did you really think you’d be able to perfect the waterfall braided up-do? Nah
5. Should I get my makeup done professionally?
You’ll tell yourself no because no one needs to drop that kind of cash, but you will convince yourself that you need to hit up Ulta for just a *few* things… $93 dollars later you’re wondering why you didn’t just pay for someone to put it on and make you look as glam as the YouTube stars you binge watch.
6. Is a spray tan necessary?
Sooooo maybe you should have gone with the long dress to hide your ghost-like legs. Oh well, either embrace it or fix it. Spray tans can either make you look like you just returned from the Caribbean or a carrot. May the odds ever be in your favor…
7. Will there be food at the venue?
If not, this is going to be a problem. Apparently they’re having “finger foods” but that doesn’t mean anything to me. This gal needs a full on meal!
8. So where should my date and I eat beforehand?
This also becomes a tricky situation – If you know your date, go anywhere you want girlfriend! If you aren’t so familiar with them, go might wanna make it somewhere quick. Chick-Fil-A is always safe…
9. Which friend can I bribe to take photos of me before I leave?
Okay let’s face it – your main reason for taking a hundred photos before you leave is so that you’ll have a variety of options to post on Instagram, but you’ll tell the photographer (aka the person you’ll now be treating to Starbucks or Cookout) that they’re for your Mom. I mean, she did ask for a few right?
10. Is it time yet?
Nope. In fact, it’s only Thursday. Makeup is bought, dress it laid out and appropriate shoes are purchased. Does the week usually take this long to go by??? Only 2 days left – that’s around 48 hours and 5 classes. You can do this…hopefully.
