This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at ECU chapter and does not reflect the views of Her Campus.

Name: Megan Hatcher

Year: Junior

Major: Secondary English Education (high school grade levels)

Her Campus Position: Writer/Contributor

HC: What made you want to get involved in Her Campus?

Megan: I didn’t even know what Her Campus was at first. I got an email about it and looked into what it was and realized that it was and is really awesome, and I’ve been really into writing since I was in high school, so of course I had to look into being a writer to get involved.

HC: What are some of your passions, or favorite things?

Megan: So, I love so many things. Marvel comics (Deadpool and The Amazing Spiderman), pugs, reading, writing, baseball, Harry Potter; pretty much, if it’s a fandom, chances are I am apart of it. I really like to travel too, though. I’ve been to every state on the east coast plus Tennessee, Kentucky, and Texas; I plan to go to England next summer.

HC: What are some of your aspirations?

Megan: I really want to be a teacher, but unlike a lot of people I didn’t know this until my freshman year of college when I took an English class that wasn’t required for my previous major, and I loved it. I would really love to teach senior English in a high school in North Carolina, but I would really work wherever there was a job.

HC: Who are some of the people you look up to the most?

Megan: Of course there are both of my parents, but other than that I would have to say that Adele and Sandra Bullock are the two women that have influenced my life and me the most. Both of them are very secure with whom they are and aren’t really bothered by the media all that much, which I admire a lot.

HC: What is your favorite part of being a student at ECU?

Megan: Honestly, I really love the people here; they are all so friendly and polite. I’ve made a lot of really awesome friends and hope to make so many more.

I am currently a junior at ECU, majoring in Secondary English Education. I really just like to read and write.
