Staff Spotlight: Meet Marissa Flood

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at ECU chapter.

Name: Marissa Flood

Year: Sophomore

Her Campus Position: Senior Editor

Her Campus: What made you want to be involved in Her Campus at East Carolina?

Marissa: I have always had a passion for writing, so when I heard about Her Campus coming to ECU, I knew I had to get involved.  It’s always really cool to see one of your articles being shared around Facebook and it gives you a great sense of accomplishment!

HC: What other organizations are you involved in on campus?

Marissa: Oh god… I’m involved in almost too much.  I am the Campus Activities Director for Phi Mu Fraternity, and I also represent Phi Mu on Junior Panhellenic.  I am part of the American Marketing Association and hold a position as the Co-VP of sponsorship.  I am also the PR and design chair for Colleges Against Cancer, and the VP of social media for the National Society of Collegiate Scholars! Just recently, I have joined Beta Gamma Sigma, a highly recognized business fraternity here at ECU!

HC: What are some of your aspirations and passions?

Marissa: I’d love to visit a national landmark from all 50 states.  I’m at about 5 so far, so I have a long way to go but it’s always been a goal of mine since I love to see and experience new places.

HC: What is your dream job?

Marissa: My dream job would be to become a marketing director in New York City.  I’ve always wanted to work in New York! I also would like a job that requires me to travel.

HC: What is your favorite part about being a student at ECU?

Marissa: ECU has helped me grow a lot as a person.  In high school, I was never one to get involved or care much about my GPA, so it definitely brings out the best in me! Plus I’ve met tons of great people along the way. …And it doesn’t hurt that they have 2 Chick Fil A’s right on campus
