HC: What made you decide to rush?Â
Barbara: I felt like I was missing out on something that could be great. I wanted to branch out of my comfort zone and meet new people.Â
HC: Were you nervous that being a junior would effect your chances at receiving a bid?Â
Barbara: This was what I was most nervous about. Thankfully my chapter did not let that mess with my chances. All the girls assured me that it didn’t matter that I was a junior and they were right!Â
HC:Did you feel like you already knew a lot about each sorority, and was that helpful to you during rush?Â
I thought I knew about most sororities “type.” In some cases I was right and in some I was far off from the reality. I went in with an open mind and was caught off guard by who I liked and who I didn’t like as muchÂ
HC: Did your opinions change about certain sororities that you may have heard about their rumored reputations?Â
Barbara: My opinions completely changed. I found myself interested in sororities that I would have never been interested in if I would have focused on their rumored reputations. The best thing I did was to go in without paying attention to stereotypes.Â
HC: Were you mostly open minded through the whole experience?Â
Barbara: I like to think I was. I tried to tune everyone’s opinions out and focus on what my heart was telling me. Â
HC: What was your favorite part about rush?Â
Barbara: Pref night! All the main stress was out of the way, and I got to spend time with two amazing chapters. This night was the most personal, and solidified where I felt the most at home.Â
HC: Do you think waiting to rush was a good thing or would you have liked to rush as a freshman?Â
Barbara: I think its awesome to rush as a freshman! I wish I would have at least done it my sophomore year because I have already enjoyed every minute of my greek experience. Better late than never though!Â
HC: What advice would you give to other upperclassman who are interested in giving Greek Life a chance?Â
Barbara: If you are feeling any urge at all to go through rush as an upperclassmen just do it! I am so thankful that I got to experience everything even if it was two years into my college life. You don’t wanat to graduate with any regrets.
