Turner Humphries is a sophomore at Eckerd College and a native of Charlotte, North Carolina. As a Division II forward for the Eckerd College Triton’s Men’s Varsity Soccer Team, Turner is an accomplished athlete and a driven student majoring in International Business with a minor in Spanish. His love for athletics and school spirit led him to create the Triton Tribe. The Tribe has become the popular group on campus that really brought Eckerd’s athletic events to a new level—Triton Nation, if you will. This creatively crafted endeavor was launched with an innovative Facebook campaign and is the reason why Turner is HC Eckerd’s Campus Celebrity of the week!

What motivated you to start the Triton Tribe?
During freshman year whenever I would go to any of the basketball games or sporting events in general, there weren’t really that many people there. And if there were, they were just hanging out; it was more of a social event. Coming from my high school, there was so much school spirit and huge attendance at sporting events. It was a big deal and a lot of fun so I just wanted to start that here and I thought it could be done pretty easily. I wanted more people to have fun at sporting events and make them a bigger deal.

Do you think this will spread to other Eckerd sports? Will we find a blue man at soccer games next season?
I hope so. That’s the idea. This year the main focus was definitely basketball but I think it has already started spreading. I went to the rugby game the other day and there was a huge amount of people there. I mean, wearing the blue man suit is a hassle; it’s pretty physically demanding. I know a lot of the basketball guys have already talked to me about how they want to help out at soccer games, so I definitely hope it spreads.

Where’s your favorite place to be on Eckerd’s campus?
Probably Kappa Field on a Saturday.

If you could be stranded on an aquaglide in Frenchman’s Creek with anyone, dead or alive, who would it be?
It would have to be Christina Aguilera because since the fifth grade she’s been my crush forever. And she just divorced her husband…so I don’t know, I feel like I’m in.

A Lilly loving, pearl wearing, history buff from Long Island, NY, Elizabeth Tomaselli is a Political Science and Journalism major minoring in Marine Science and Italian at Eckerd College. When she's not teaching aerobics and pilates or editing the school newspaper, you can find her hosting Gossip Girl premiere parties or tanning on the dock with her Beta girls. She is a self-professed pink lover with a striking ability to predict storylines in movies and TV shows. Aside from her adoration for Blair Waldorf and Jackie O, Liz enjoys playing tennis, dancing, and participating in family croquet tournaments at the little yellow house on Luther Place. Sometimes called the energizer bunny, she can function on little sleep, however, often requires coffee and Light & Fit yogurt to stay productive. With a big smile and curly brown hair, this senior plans to take over the world, one expensive shoe at a time.
Some girls have all the fun; Devon Elizabeth Williams happens to be one of them. A carb loving, liberal hailing from Lakeville, Massachusetts, Devon is a senior at Eckerd College in Saint Petersburg, Florida pursuing a  major in Political Science with a double minor in Journalism and International Relations. After spending January 2011 in an intensive Winter Term program at the United Nations in New York, Devon realized that taking over the world will be more difficult than anticipated, but nothing that a vivacious red head in stilettos can’t handle. In her free time Devon is a bartending beauty queen who has a soft spot for blueberry pie, Broadway and the scheming antics of Blair Waldorf. When she’s not paddle boarding at the waterfront or laying out on Eckerd’s private South Beach you can find Devon singing in the alto section of the concert choir. At the end of the day Devon is thankful for Newport, RI, her family, Sadie the black lab, Paul Mitchell, her girlfriends, Cheetah, and rhinestones.
