Craft Corner: Tissue Paper Pom Poms!

Ok so this time I did something that was super cute, fun and easy! Once again inspired by Pinterest, I made tissue paper pom poms!

All you need is:

  • Tissue paper
  • String (or fishing line)
  • Scissors

I picked up tissue paper from the Dollar Store; it was a pack of 25 sheets with 5 different colors for only one dollar.  I already had some string so I really only spent a dollar. So here’s what you do.  Take 5 sheets of tissue paper and make sure that they align with one another; then fold them in half (hot dog style).  Open the paper back up, and cut along the fold. It will look something like the following:

After, place both piles on top of one another and line them up as close as you can.  Once you have done this, you are going to accordion fold the tissue.  I made my folds about one inch wide.

Next, cut the ends into a rounded, half circle, or just leave it the way it is; it’s up to you.

Once you have trimmed the edges, next step is to use the string—you can make it as long, or short as you’d like.  Tie the string around the middle of the tissue paper.  Then fan out your accordion to look like so:

After this you’re going to peel the layers of the tissue towards the center.

Do this on both ends, and once you have them peeled out, fluff up the pom pom.  This is what my finished product looks like!  I thought these were so cute and adorable that I made more, plus they are super easy to make!
