This week’s Eckerd Campus Fashionista is Sophomore Meredith Brull. She told me about what inspires her style, some of her favorite pieces in her closet and the trends she is loving right now.

Meredith names Kate Middleton and Rachel Zoe as two of her style icons–she loves “The Rachel Zoe Project.” Right now, she’s obsessed with her lace hoodie from Urban Outfitters, but her longtime favorite is a pair of metallic gold flats from J. Crew.

According to Meredith, the perfect staple to any outfit, and her favorite accessory, is a good set of bangles. They can be either thick or thin, worn alone, or behind a large-faced watch–another accessory worth investing in. With Eckerd’s warm sunny weather, Meredith suggests colorful shorts tucked into a top and flats for an easy, everyday outfit for collegiettes.

Her perfect weekend outfit is a cute dress or tasteful crop-top and heels, with her hair worn straight or down. During the week she puts her hair in a ballerina bun or pulled back and for makeup, she usually goes with bronzer, blush, mascara and eyeliner. While Meredith’s favorite splurge stores are Bloomingdales, Kate Spade, Tory Burch and Longchamp, she names Forever 21, Urban Outfitters, Zara, Target and H&M as her favorite bargain stores. However, her favorite store will always be J. Crew.

Her favorite fall trends are polka dots, long-sleeved sheer loose blouses, cheetah accessories and Essie’s new line of nail polishes( her favorite color for fall is a dark red called Carry On.

Meredith’s fashion pet peeves are leggings as pants, T-shirts with brand names on them and jeans without pockets.”Its not all about representing brands and saving your money until you can afford something that is 500 dollars. Keep up with the trends and find out where you fit in,” she says.

Some girls have all the fun; Devon Elizabeth Williams happens to be one of them. A carb loving, liberal hailing from Lakeville, Massachusetts, Devon is a senior at Eckerd College in Saint Petersburg, Florida pursuing a  major in Political Science with a double minor in Journalism and International Relations. After spending January 2011 in an intensive Winter Term program at the United Nations in New York, Devon realized that taking over the world will be more difficult than anticipated, but nothing that a vivacious red head in stilettos can’t handle. In her free time Devon is a bartending beauty queen who has a soft spot for blueberry pie, Broadway and the scheming antics of Blair Waldorf. When she’s not paddle boarding at the waterfront or laying out on Eckerd’s private South Beach you can find Devon singing in the alto section of the concert choir. At the end of the day Devon is thankful for Newport, RI, her family, Sadie the black lab, Paul Mitchell, her girlfriends, Cheetah, and rhinestones.
