Aspiring Psychologist: Natalia Mckay!

Natalia McKay is a rising sophomore here at Eckerd College. She is currently studying Psychology with a minor in Marine Science and Spanish. There were several reasons why Natalia choose to come to Eckerd. She originally came to Eckerd to major in solely Marine Science, because the program here at Eckerd really appealed to her. Over the course of the year, Natalia found that she wanted to focus more on the behavior aspects marine animals. She also decided to attend Eckerd because of the beautiful location and close community environment. Natalia hopes to have the opportunity to travel abroad next Winter Term in Spain. She also hopes to study aboard during her Fall Semester of her junior year here at Eckerd.

Natalia is very active in the Eckerd community. She is involved in EEL and Palmetto Productions. She is accepting the role of co-president for our Her Campus chapter. Natalia is also a Student Ambassador. Her favorite thing about being a Student Ambassador is being able to interact with perspective students. She loves that she gets a chance to show perspective students Eckerd’s beautiful campus and, tell them about all the amazing things that Eckerd offers their students.

She will be back on campus for Autumn Term as a Peer-Mentor. Natalia will be a Peer-Mentor for Dr. Kat Robinson’s class Narratives of Sail. She’s most excited to be interacting with the new freshman on campus and, getting them excited for their next four years here. She hopes to develop close bonds with them so that they feel comfortable coming to her as a friend.

Next year, Natalia plans on starting up a sailing club with her fabulous roommate Margaret Catrambone. The club’s activities will be directed toward the leisurely sailor. They plan on taking Day-Sail trips on the weekends. Everyone is invited to join. It will be a fun way to take advantage the waterfront’s amenities and, the beautiful scenery of Eckerd. After her years here at Eckerd, Natalia hopes to attend graduate school to continue her studies in Psychology.
