This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Durham chapter and does not reflect the views of Her Campus.

We appointed a Her Campus Exec at the begining of this year. Made up of 6 girls, we edit articles, orgniase events and publicise our chapter. Find out a bit more about us here

Serena Gosling: Editor-in-chief

Hi guys, I’m Serena, a third year Psychology student at Hatfield and a (not so) closet One Direction fan. I fell in love with the Thesp life at 5 years-old when I played the lead Snowman in my School’s Christmas Play and never looked back. You can generally find me in an Elvet room rehearsing or in the Assembly Rooms performing. Outside of thespism, I enjoy cutting some rather questionable shapes in Klute and salmon and cream cheese sandwiches from Vennels.

Lara Dolden: Deputy Editor

I’m Lara, a 2nd year Psychology student, learning to read people’s minds one lecture at a time. Originally from London and a self-confessed chronic complainer about the Durham cold, you’ll usually find me curled up under a blanket (or two, or three). I love cafe-hopping, travelling, photography, cooking, movie nights, the theatre and eating far too much chocolate.

Annie Davison

Hi I’m Annie Davison and I am thrilled to have made it onto the Her Campus Exec team! I am a Fresher at Trevelyan College, Durham, and I study English Literature. I’ve always adored English and Drama and as a result have performed in many productions in the past. I have already dived into the vast drama opportunities in Durham and already feel at home in The Assembly Rooms! I come from Northumberland and am part of the very small minority of British students who have come South to Durham Univeristy – it’s so hot down here! I’m just kidding. My favourite food is steak and chips – more specifically, my mum’s steak and chips. I snort when I giggle, and I enjoy a good crop top. I have a blue skinned Labradoodle called Liffey and blue Citroen C3 called Eustace who has a magnetic attachable moustache and a particularly frustrating intermitted electrical fault. And that’s pretty much all you need to know about me. I can’t wait to write more articles for Her Campus in the future and hope you enjoy them!

Beth Balkham

I’m Beth and I’m a second year English lit student. I cheer for HBC (the best cheer squad) and I’m their social sec because I’d choose Klute over bed any day. I also attempt to row, but that will stop once I do something terribly wrong and end up falling out the boat. I’m a big fan of journalism, writing for various student magazines and hosting a Purple Radio show. I love fashion and always feel like I have no clothes, despite my wardrobe being so full it’s now bending towards the floor. I love One Direction, The Great Gatsby is my favourite book and I eat far too many spoonfuls of peanut butter. My favourite thing to say is ‘what is life?’ and if you have the answer please let me know.

Eloise Lawton

Hi I’m Eloise, a first year English Lit student at St. Cuthbert’s society, and I’m really excited to be a part of the Her Campus exec team! My interests include reading (though I think taking an English degree will have knocked that out of me by the end of the year), eating, watching films, painting, socialising, and baking. I’m originally from Spalding, Lincolnshire, a small town almost no one has ever heard of, and you’ll usually find me trawling through the sale racks in Topshop and avoiding all exercise of any kind, except long walks to the fridge or running after ice cream vans.

Emilie Aspeling

Hi I’m Emilie and a first year Combined Honours in Arts student studying English Lit, French, History of Art and Theology. I’m from Brighton, Sussex, so I could not be less of a Northerner. I have a penchant for knitwear (it’s just so darn cold up here!) and my impressive collection of jumpers and blankets has increased exponentially since arriving at Durham. I would usually say that I am a book lover, however I should probably admit that I haven’t fully read a book since arriving here. Being a Trevelyanite I have developed rock-hard calves, a reliance upon comfy footwear and a dislike of slippery pavements. I am really excited to be part of the HerCampus Exec and look forward to bringing you some great articles!

Fiona Neylon

I’m Fiona, a 1st year from Collingwood and a bit of an enigma as the only Physicist amongst an exec of English lit students. I live in Dover, which is so far south it’s closer to Paris than it is to Durham. Officially I do dancing, squash, fencing and lacrosse, but my dedication to these sports is a bit lacking, while my commitment to the college vending machines remains tragically strong. I watch far too many American sitcoms, have no shame in my obsession with Taylor Swift, and will never love anyone as much as I love Chuck Bass.
