Durham Does Vintage

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Durham chapter.

Returning to the Marriott Hotel for the fifth time, Durham Does Vintage was another huge success last weekend. Award-winning organisers Britain Does Vintage offer the ‘ultimate vintage experience’, supporting local and independent businesses with an enormous variety of quality and affordable homeware, accessories and clothing. Here are just a few highlights from the day…

Miss Maude Makes | www.missmaudemakes.co.uk

With cat eye sunglasses, floral frocks and Cath Kidston-esque head ties, this beautiful stall would have been heaven for the 1950’s housewife! Miss Maude Makes uses her love of sewing to make her own vintage inspired clothing for the modern woman.

Twisted Magpie | www.facebook.com/twistedmagpie

We had a fantastic time trying on old American bomber jackets on at Twisted Magpie, who offered us students a very generous 10% discount from already very affordable price tags! Nicola Etheringon offers a lovely variety of accessories and clothing for both girls and guys. And girls, who can beat £10 for vintage Levi shorts?!

Suzy Loves Milo Boutique | www.suzylovesmiloboutique.co.uk

Believe it or not, all of the bold colour and prints on this stall are hand sourced from vintage suppliers in Japan, South Korea, Europe and the USA, which is what makes ‘Suzy Loves Milo’ completely unique. We were even quite taken by their very eccentric ‘shirt of the day’ (see below)! And remember that fashion app that was all the craze over the Summer? Well, you can follow SuzyLovesMiloBoutique on Depop, here.

Twopennylane | www.twopennylane.com

We loved the quirky, vintage style jewellery at Twopennylane, which aims to ‘capture the child within everyone’. The lovely Cat sells her own handmade accessories, which she designs ‘for people cleverly disguised as responsible adults’!

Gingerwick | www.gingerwick.co.uk

Gingerwick offer a range of vintage inspired items, including their own-labelled retro sweet tins, which can be personalised as gifts, or for a celebration or charity event. They also specialise in a wide range of magazines, selling pristine editions dating between 1930 and 1970. Cool or what.

Vintagera | www.vintagera.co.uk

If you’re a fan of a statement sparkle piece, then the incredible costume jewellery sold by Pauline Shaw and Alan Lewis at Vintagera is definitely a stall to look out for at the next fair. With nearly every colour and style under the sun, these guys have an accessory for every occasion.

Rosie Hearts Vintage | www.facebook.com/rosieheartsvintage

Another clothing stand offering beautiful vintage clothing, as well as other knick knacks, was Rosie Hearts Vintage. All of Rosie’s colourful garments were beautifully presented and can be bought directly from her Facebook page.

End Brown and Sons Vintage

From old car badges, to cupcakes to adorn your Christmas tree, these guys offer all sorts of home décor. End Brown and Sons Vintage stall was adorned with fairy lights, showcasing their quirky and individual homeware items.

Ava Vintage & Designer Boutique | www.facebook.com/Avavintageanddesigner

Put Saturday 7th December in your diary, when Durham Does Vintage will be returning to the Mariott Hotel once again – the perfect opportunity to do some Christmas shopping!

We loved the made-up mannequins at Ava Vintage & Designer Boutique!
