Don’t Get Me Started On… The World of Fashion Retail

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Durham chapter.
  1. Online clothing sizes

Okay, we’re all aware of the fact that 95% of our favourite stores offer ZERO acknowledgment of waist to hip ratios, and the fact that larger boobs aren’t always consistent with a wider body. And we’re kinda used to it. Sort of. Anyways, my latest issue is with the fact that online stores LOVE telling lies and selling dreams.

Tour evidently size 6 model is supposedly wearing an 8.  From previous experience I’m certain the disparity between consecutive sizes are quite great…

This is me trying to work out who to trust:

  1. MCM Bags

I don’t have much to say about these except they look rather vile and honestly, they should’ve been left in the year they debuted. Please. Pretty please.

  1. Joni Jeans

Personally, I’m a HUGE fan of Joni Jeans, simply because they don’t come with the waist to hip ratio problem.

But…

Upon coming to terms with the fact that I went through about 4 pairs of the black ones in under a year, I think it’s time to be annoyed. Topshop really need to explain why after throwing these jeans in the wash twice, my jeans are quite frankly, no longer black.

Like people, if I wanted grey jeans, I would happily buy grey jeans. Let’s not even get started on the rapid between the thigh wear.

  1. Kitten Heels

I whimper a little bit inside everytime I see dear Theresa May strutting into Number 10 in these bad boys.

Because honestly, what reason could anyone possibly deem fit to be 0.61794 inches above the ground??

THEY NEED TO GO!!

  1. Stores without student discounts

As a university student, I will almost always consider myself broke. But the thing is, being broke doesn’t mean I won’t shop (shameless impulse buyer over here).

So when some of my faveeee stores [cough, Zara] think it’s cool to disregard my financial shortcomings:

Like guys, the odd 10% off might make me feel slightly less guilty when I punch in my card details…
