If you’re stuck in your room with a pile of summatives, or you’re just not feeling up to Durham’s intimidating mental night scene (we’ll keep that embarrassment from all your home pals don’t worry) – you could try out ‘Coffee Lounge’ the hottest new hub where you can ‘Eat. Drink [and] Relax.] Sounds pretty idyllic. This fantasia has only been in business just over two months now, opening up in December 2015. The menu boasts a wealth of cuisine ranging from sandwiches and paninis to cookie dough and encompassing the likes of fruit smoothies along the way. This is all in conjunction with their specialities which include: Italian gelato sundaes, cakes, crepes and waffles. Again, quite an extensive list, so you might want to get started! Situated just opposite ‘Big’ (or at least the largest we are graced with in Durham) Tesco, Coffee Lounge could be the perfect post grocery dash treat. If you can’t muster the energy to trundle down with all your bags for life to pick up your veggies, a quick ‘Lounge’ may make the trip seem slightly more manageable. With its warm autumnal tones, there is a relaxed ambience which definitely beats the brashness of the intoxicatingly bright billy b rendering Lounge a perfect evening study date if you’re an avid night owl. But if you’ve already given up by that point – Coffee Lounge could also be a very welcomed location for you too! Being the only late night coffee and ice cream parlour (you tried Esquires but you still can’t muster those sweet treats,) this place offers a unique experience of evening rendezvous without the casual drinking. Maybe you just want to catch up with a friend, still aren’t quite satisfied after your Spags dish or just need that speciality coffee fix around the clock. Whatever your desires with the lengthy opening hours and array of treats, Lounge could well be well worth an investigation!
