Spring Break Essentials

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Duke chapter.

Heading to a hot, sandy beach for spring break? Don’t forget to pack these essentials to ensure that the cold, rainy weather is the only thing you leave behind!

1.) Tote Bag

The tote is the perfect bag for your holiday. You can use it when you go to the beach, go shopping and even when you travel! It is easily accessible, and you can throw everything right in. It also doubles as a substitute book bag for when you get back! Look for a bag that is a neutral color so you can pair it with your bright and patterned cover-ups, or if you’re feeling bold, try a striking print.

2.) Travel Adaptor

Don’t forget this handy plug: you’ll need it to make sure your phone, laptop and camera stay powered up if you’re going abroad! You don’t want to miss out on music, or a not have a camera to capture the best moments of your trip!

3.) Spray-on Sunblock

Spray-on sunblock is the best, as it allows you to protect yourself from the sun without greasing up your hands or worrying about lotion spills in your bag. Try and look for a fast absorbing one. It’s perfect for great coverage under the sun!

4.) Waterproof Makeup

Waterproof makeup is a must— no one wants to emerge from the pool or ocean looking like a raccoon. Make sure you have good waterproof makeup so you don’t have to worry. Also take along good makeup remover so you don’t have to tug at your skin while trying to take off your makeup.

5.) Sweater/Hoodie

Sure, you might be going to the beach, but some places do get chilly at night. Make sure you take a cute sweater or a hoodie to throw on top of your outfit..it’s better to be safe than sorry!

6.) White Shorts

White shorts are a perfect cover up because they match any bikini and can double as a base for when you go out at night (just team them with a dressy top and heels). Try white lace shorts for an alternative – they pair well with any tank top for an elegant look.

7.) Ballet Flats

While flip-flops are the most obvious shoes to pack for spring break, don’t forget your flats. They are great to wear off the beach and are comfortable in case you need to walk long distances. You can also wear them to travel.
