We’ve been grateful for a lot of things this year. Especially that home cooked meal that shames Great Hall any day. But now that we’ve indulged in all the Thanksgiving fixings, it looks like we need to put in a little more time gym time. Instead of your regular treadmill routine, mix it up by doing these fun workouts with a friend:

Supersets: Pair exercises (like sit ups and planks) and each do one, once you finished the first, switch and do the other one in the set. Figure out what areas you want to work on, pick two exercises and continue through alternating. Make sure to do a couple sets.

Birkam Yoga: Get nice and sweaty with this trendy exercise. As you’ve probably heard, Birkam puts a spin on classic yoga by holding it in a hot room. Those that have tried it swear by it enjoying newfound flexibility and sweating out all those Shooters nights. Check out the convenient nearby location on Main Street. Make sure to drink lots of water before and after your workout. http://www.bikramdurham.com/

Survivor Challenge: For those of you that enjoy a little friendly competition, grab a friend and try this survivor challenge. Set up a circuit of sit-ups, arm curls, arm presses, triceps dips, and squats and see how long you can last. Try to go through all the exercises twice. Who ever wins…treats for Loyo? Whoops.

You no longer have to regret that extra serving of grandma’s homemade pumpkin pie. Just lace up those tennis and grab a friend.

Sabrina is a Junior at Duke University, and is double majoring in English and Public Policy. A born and bred South African, Sabrina has traveled to the USA to pursue her higher education. As well as being a member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority, Sabrina is also Assistant Vice President for Recruitment for the Panhellenic Association at Duke. Sabrina has written for Duke's daily newspaper, The Chronicle and Duke's fashion magazine, FORM. After graduating, she hopes to attend law school preferably in her favourite city, New York. In her spare time, Sabrina vegges out to various fashion blogs, mindless TV (Pretty Little Liars anyone?) and online shopping (which borders on an addiction). If you manage to catch her in an energetic mood, she's probably on her way to cardiodance (or to the nearest mall).
