How to Get Adele’s Makeup Look

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Duke chapter.

Admit it: we’ve all turned at least one Adele song up to full blast on our car stereos, mainly to drone out our pathetic attempts to sing along, but also to admire the pipes on this British beauty! Damn that girl can sing. But those stunning green eyes and impeccable makeup also make you want to be Someone Like [Her]. These tips will help you achieve Adele’s trademark makeup looks, but the singing lessons are up to you!

Eyes

  • Take any black pencil liner and smudge it on the upper water line (underneath the lashes) and on the upper lashes
  • Add a touch of color to the eyelids. Use a very nude eye shadow, and apply it over the entire lid
  • Optional step: add a toupe-colored shadow to the crease of your eyes to add depth; blend it into the natural eye socket line
  • According to her latest interview in Cosmopolitan, Adele believes there’s no such thing as too many eyelashes! Your Adele look won’t be complete without false eyelashes
  • Use black liquid liner to cover the false eyelashes. Be sure to keep a steady hand for the liquid liner! Bring the liner out to a slightly winged tip
  • Add an extra coat of your favorite mascara to blend your real lashes with the false lashes
  • Take white eyeliner and dip it into gel liner (which helps the makeup stick to the waterline better)
    • Use this liner to line the lower waterline
    • Take what’s left on the pencil and run it just under the lower lashes. Continue about a third of the way and then meet it with the winged tip of the black liquid liner from the top
  •  Dab a small brush in white eye shadow and run it over the gel liner to help the makeup stay in place

Lips

  • Take the same white eyeliner from before and line the upper lip just outside the lip line (this will look weird at first, but it helps to make the lips look fuller). Then tap it gently with your finger to soften it.
  • Use a nude lipstick to cancel out the natural color of your lips
  • Finish with a light to medium pink gloss to add subtle color
