Fifty Shades of (Grey) Nail Polish and Other Must Have Nail Trends

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Duke chapter.

It’s officially fall, and that means that it’s the season of comfy sweaters, cute scarves, and dark autumn colors.  This does not mean you have to give up your favorite summer color polishes but after seeing these colors, you might want to.

Grey: Play it light, play it dark – no matter what your mood or outfit, a killer set of grey nails will top off any ensemble.  My personal favorite is “You Don’t Know Jacques” by OPI (featured on the right).

Metallic Chrome: Put a little edge in your color by selecting holographic silvers to add another dimension to your polish.  The extra shimmer will take your style to the next level.  Check out these colors below (“For the Twill of It” by Essie, “Peace & Love & OPI” by OPI, “Addiction” by Urban Decay, and “Aurora” by Topshop)

Blood Red: Trade in your bright, cherry red polish for a deep crimson to stay hip with the fall trends.  Steal this look straight from the runway with “Mrs. O’Leary’s BBQ” by OPI.

Matte: Put a twist on the classic black by substituting your glossy finish for a classy, matte texture.  Feeling creative?  Use nail art or a glossy polish to play with the design even more.

Chocolate Brown:  Nothing says it’s autumn more than a nice shade of deep brown.  Since we just can’t get enough of it, we’re putting it on our nails too.  Check out “Souffle” by NYX, “Louise” by Zoya, “St. Martin’s Lane” by Nails Inc, and “Black Sepia” by Lancome.
