Cozy Sweaters for Fall

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Duke chapter.

Now that we’ve entered October it’s finally starting to feel like autumn. Yes, even here in Durham we get fall. You may be mourning your loss of summer and sun, but look on the bright side: with autumn comes so many more shopping opportunities. Fall means new coats, new scarves, new boots, and my personal favorite, new sweaters. Here are the five sweaters you need for fall.

Camel Sweater with a Twist:

You can’t beat a classic color like camel. It goes with everything and adds a touch of sophistication to all outfits. To keep this neutral color from being drab and boring, find a sweater like this Topshop one. The neckline detail spices up this piece, making you stand out rather than just blending into the crowd.

Comfy Cashmere:

Those days you just can’t get out of bed and face the cold weather call for cashmere. You can never have too much cashmere. Nothing is cozier, softer, or warmer. This J.Crew sweater may be expensive, but definitely worth it.

Cableknit Colorblock:

Neutrals are nice, but sometimes you need color in your life. Want to brighten your dreary fall day? Try this colorblock pullover from Urban Outfitters. This sweater’s cableknit also adds some texture to your look.

Patterned Shawl:

Solids don’t always cut it. This cardigan keeps the colors neutral, but is far from boring. The pattern will improve any boring jean outfit and the cardigan style allows you to not only stay warm, but also show off your cute tops.

Nautical Cardigan:

Why not bring a little bit of summer with you to autumn. Nothing will remind you more of your summer by the sea than nautical stripes. Check out something like this Free People cardigan. It has hints of summer without looking like it should have been left in your summer wardrobe.
