The Academy Awards! Hollywood’s Biggest Night

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Duke chapter.

Oscar Sunday is here! Today, all of the biggest movie stars will be heading to the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood hoping to go home with a little gold man named Oscar. The 84th annual Academy Awards will be hosted by Billy Crystal and will air on ABC at 7pm! So, grab your friends and head to the common room for a night of great dresses, tear-jerking speeches, and a hilarious opening, all featuring your favorite actors and actresses!

Need a few ideas on how to make this Sunday a night to remember? Well, here are a few things you can do to get into the Oscar spirit! Firstly, a big TV is key; try to get to the common room early to reserve a space. Secondly, make sure to stock up on food and beverages to keep you going throughout the show. Order food from your favorite restaurant or imitate Wolfgang Puck’s evening menu for the attendees. Items include: vegetable spring roles, crab cakes with remoulade, lobster taco, and everyone’s favorite macaroni and cheese with aged cheddar.  Dessert features golden candy apples, chocolate mousse, and chiffon cake. Don’t forget the drinks! Sparkling apple cider is always a great option, but if you’re looking for something with more of a punch, pop open a bottle of champagne. Finally, predict who you think the winners will be! Here’s a quick summary of who is nominated:
