Wearing the “I’m going to the gym later” outfit to class
We all understand those days after all-nighters or that Friday morning after a solid night out. No matter what your reason is, just throw on your sweatpants and don’t think twice. We’ve been there. There is nothing worse than wearing an uncomfortable pair of overly tight jeans with a mean hangover.

Asking for extra help from a teacher or TA
I know some teachers can sometimes seem super intimidating and TA’s can act like they are way too smart and important to answer your questions. But think about it this way, it’s their job. They are paid to help you, and it can never hurt to get a little extra help.

Going to CAPS
Whether you are having trouble with friends, stress, adjusting to college, or something more serious, don’t be ashamed to get counseling. Although it may seem like everyone else is totally fine and dandy, I promise you everyone has his/her own issues. No matter how big or small your problem is, it’s always better to ask for help, or suggest it to a friend if you are even a little bit worried.

Listening to Christmas music, already
It’s November, therefore as far as I am concerned, anything Christmas (or whatever holiday you celebrate) related is both acceptable and encouraged. It’s finally time to make that much-anticipated trip to Target to stock up on some shamelessly tacky Christmas decorations for your room, and turn on the Pandora Christmas station.

Not wanting to go out.
We all have those days when we just don’t feel like going out. For some reason or another, you just aren’t channeling your inner animal. Don’t be ashamed. Just give it a little time to recuperate. Put on your sweatpants, order some takeout, and catch up on all the shows you missed during the week while you were wasting your time doing homework.

Eating dessert
Last time I checked, desserts were on the food pyramid. Yeah, maybe they’re the smallest portion, but they’re still there. After a long week of tests, or just because it’s a Wednesday, sometimes you just need a brownie or frozen yogurt fix. Just give in.

Breaking out your inner freak.
We all have our quirks and no matter how embarrassing yours may be, these quirks always end up being the things you love most about your friends. But, if it ends up freaking someone out, don’t blame me because it’s their fault they take themselves too seriously.

Sabrina is a Junior at Duke University, and is double majoring in English and Public Policy. A born and bred South African, Sabrina has traveled to the USA to pursue her higher education. As well as being a member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority, Sabrina is also Assistant Vice President for Recruitment for the Panhellenic Association at Duke. Sabrina has written for Duke's daily newspaper, The Chronicle and Duke's fashion magazine, FORM. After graduating, she hopes to attend law school preferably in her favourite city, New York. In her spare time, Sabrina vegges out to various fashion blogs, mindless TV (Pretty Little Liars anyone?) and online shopping (which borders on an addiction). If you manage to catch her in an energetic mood, she's probably on her way to cardiodance (or to the nearest mall).
