ATTENTION ALL FEMALES GOING THROUGH FORMAL FALL RECRUITMENT:

This is your one-stop-shop for the best and most forgotten items to bring with you for formal sorority recruitment. REMEMBER, these days are long and hot, so being prepared is an absolute must.

1. Lip Gloss and Lipstick

While it might seem like lip gloss or lipstick is something that is a given, you can be surprised how often it is forgotten. Bring it along to re-pop your gloss before your next party.

2. A Small Snack

These days are going to feel like they are dragging on forever and most of you will choose to wear heels. Let me tell you, walking in heels all day is mentally and physically exhausting. So pack a light snack like a granola bar or an apple to take with you. Even if you just have a bite in between parties, you will feel loads better!

3. Breath mints

Breath mints are a must for recruitment. As previously mentioned, these days are long and hot and after the first three parties, you’re going to start feeling a little gross. While you will most likely remember to bring deodorant, breath mints will help you feel even better by reassuring you that you aren’t blowing that onion breath from lunch into other girl’s faces.

4. Hair Ties and Bobby Pins

Unfortunately, hair is not a sculpture that will forever stay in the same place. To help control those stray hairs or to just completely get your sweaty hairspray soaked hair off your neck, bobby pins and hair ties are a necessity for your recruitment bag.

5. Blotting Paper

According to the current weather forecast, the weekend of recruitment is looking to be sunny and about 85 degrees each day. That weather mixed with makeup, heels, and crowded areas equals sweating and a lot of it. Bring blotting paper to eliminate the sweat without messing up your make up between each party to make a fresh impression on each house.

6. Tampons

Let’s be real ladies; Mother Nature likes to rebel against us during the worst possible moments. Pack a tampon or two in your bag just in case. And this way, if some other poor unfortunate soul has the displeasure of having a visit from the Queen B herself (yeah Mother Nature I’m talking about you), you are there to save the day!

7. Advil

In case you weren’t aware of this by hearing the chants and songs being practiced throughout campus, you will encounter a lot of loud singing and clapping and cheering in addition to being in a crowded and, yup you guessed it, loud space. While this is an awesome moment to see the women of the different sororities rooting specifically for you, it is also very loud. Bring some Advil for those noise induced headaches that I can guarantee will occur.

8. Band Aids

For those of you who are braving the stilettos and wedges for the coming weekend, definitely bring band aids with you. Although I’m not the best at math, one equation I know to be true is Heels + LOTS of Walking = Blisters. Your feel will thank me later.

9. Flip Flops

Once your day is done, there will be nothing that you want more than to take off those heels you decided to wear. Bring flip flops along to change into! With the amount of construction going on around campus, there is nothing that would be worse than stepping on a nail or screw right after your 6 hour day.

So there you have it ladies! A list of 9 items that should most definitely be in your bag of sorority recruitment essentials.

She is double majoring in Biology and Psychology with a minor in Chemistry and a concentration in Cognitive Neuroscience. When she isn't stuck in the lab or at a sorority function, you can find her watching NCIS on Netflix, reading a Jodie Picoult book, or hiking in the beautiful Rockie Mountains. One day she will probably be traveling to third world countries to give medical assistance to those in need. And I promise you, something great will come of it" from We Bought a Zoo.
