So You’re Going to Formal…Now What do you Wear?

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at DU chapter.

Ah, it’s spring quarter once again here at DU. As week four approaches us, it’s the perfect time to procrastinate on all that studying. What better way to avoid those midterm study guides than to hit up Nordstrom Rack or Pinterest “cooler painting ideas” throughout your *yawn*-worthy lectures? That’s right ladies, Formal season is near. Whether you’re waiting for that frat star in your accounting class to ask you to his formal or you’re tagging along with your best friend to hers, you’re going to need something (preferably jaw-dropping) to wear.

We’ve got you covered. Check out these ideas on what to wear and where to find them:

1. The LBD, $38, asos.com

You can never go wrong with a Little Black Dress & this swing dress from ASOS is perfect for dancing the night away with your date.

2. The Glam Dress, $188, nordstrom.com

There’s no better way to WOW your date than with a little sparkle.

3. The Cutout Dress, $349, renttherunway.com

A sexy & flirty feel without showing too much skin. Plus, *BONUS!* Don’t feel like paying an arm and a leg for a formal dress? Check out Rent The Runway and reserve a designer style dress for less than half the price!

4. The Lacey Dress, $338, bcbg.com

A dress that makes you feel both red hot and classy AF.

5. The Fringe Dress, $179, urbanoutfitters.com

A super fun dress to swing & sway in and the pastel colors are great for springtime. *WARNING!* Pastel colors such as this might require a spray-tan prior to wearing (or check out Jergens Natural Glow Moisturizer for a natural bronzer).

6. The Boho Maxi Dress, $500, freepeople.com

Because no girl at DU can resist Free People. And are you seeing this dress?!

Most importantly: Always wear something that makes you feel comfortable and beautiful and you’re sure to be the belle of the ball! (err…Formal!)
