The Best Places to Study on Campus That Aren’t the Library

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at DU chapter.

While the AAC is an amazing place to go and work, sometimes, especially during finals, the library just isn’t the best place. There are hidden study rooms ALL over campus. These are just a few of the places I’ve found at my time here at DU, but I am 100% certain there are tons more. A few of my favorites include the hidden fireside rooms in Driscoll bridge, the rooms in Mary Reed Hall, empty classrooms in Sturm, and yes my dorm room.

Some people hate studying in their room, but give it a try. Use your desk as a desk and settle in. You can have a blanket and study in your thong and no one will judge you, expect possibly your roommate. Studying in your room means you don’t have to pack up and haul your stuff somewhere else and then unpack and settle. Then once you are settled, it’s likely you’ll have forgotten something and then you can’t have an effective study or homework sesh. I also found that during finals the law building is EMPTY. However, do know that there is no Wi-Fi for non-law students in that building. But use that as an advantage! You can’t get distracted by the internet on your laptop or your phone. A couple other places I have ended up include the Driscoll Underground, the huge tables in Nagel dining hall, Jasmines café, and some classrooms in Halls.

Also, check out the new study space in Sturm Hall where the Language Learning Center used to be! Another incredibly obvious place that is so often over looked is outside!! Colorado is gorgeous and the weather is almost always great. Take advantage of sunny days before the snow hits and study on the grass or tables outside residence halls or Sturm! However, no matter where you end up going, you’ll be happy because DU is great! But you already knew that, you picked it for a reason.
