This February is American Heart Month, and with it comes the reminder of how important it is to keep your body happy and healthy. We all know it isn’t easy, especially if you’re someone like me that kinda, sorta hates working out. But have no fear – here are some ways to put some fun in your fitness routine.
- Join a dance class
-
Dancing involves fun music and awesome moves, and it also burns a ton of calories. If you can’t bring yourself to lift weights or go on a run, try a dancing class to get your heart pumping.
- Watch TV or get hyped to some tunes while you workout
-
This one is probably a given, but it has to be said. If you’re running or walking on a machine, put on your favorite Netflix show or blast your favorite artist to make it a little more bearable!
- Keep a journal
-
Take pictures of yourself to track your progress, and write down your workout routines. A simple step, a journal can provide you with motivation to keep at it.
- Walk/run for a cause
-
There are plenty of fundraising runs for a good cause that can give a purpose to your workout and help others. If you don’t want to run, you can walk. Try one, and you may find that they’re a lot more fun than you expect!
- Get an exercise video game
-
Remember Wii sports? If you have a gaming console, there are plenty of workout games that can get your heart rate up. Find one that you love!
- Channel your inner child
-
A lot of fun activities we did as a kid are actually good workouts. Try hula hooping, jumping rope, or going on the swing at a playground. These fun activities all help burn calories and build muscle.
There are so many ways to make the workout you’re dreading fun. So, in honor of American Heart Month, try some of these methods to get that heart pumping.
