Even if your plans involve spending time with your significant other, we’ve all experienced the single life at some point. Here’s our take on what it’s like to be single on Valentine’s Day!

At first you’re all nonchalant and decide to treat this day like it’s a regular Saturday.

But then your friends in relationships start asking for advice on their date outfits.

Of course you help them out.

But you can’t help but feel a little sorry for yourself.

Seeing all the Valentine’s Day store décor isn’t helping either.

You even get annoyed when your co-workers ask if you have any V-day plans.

But then you snap out of it when you realize all the benefits of being single on V-Day.

First of all, you don’t have to spend money on a significant other.

Second, you don’t have to worry about waiting in long lines just to get into a restaurant or a movie theater.

You also realize that you don’t have to worry about looking cute today.

As a matter of fact, you’ve decided that your V-day outfit is going to be pajamas!

Next, you invite some of your single friends to hang out.

Once everyone’s arrived, someone starts playing “Single Ladies” by Beyoncé.

After being serenaded to by Beyoncé and maybe even Taylor Swift, you guys decide to treat yourself to some Netflix and take out.

Once the party starts winding down, everyone talks about how difficult relationships are. Isn’t college stressful enough?

Besides, you have the rest of your lives to find someone to spend Valentine’s Day with.

But until then, you’ll always have your friends!

It’s easy for some people to get roped into thinking that there’s something wrong with being alone on Valentine’s Day, but being single isn’t necessarily a burden — it could actually be a blessing. You have time to work on yourself, you have time to improve your career, and you never have to worry about putting someone else’s needs before your own. Besides… who needs a date when you have family, friends, and an Internet connection?
