Ways to Celebrate Mother’s Day with your Mom

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Drexel chapter.

It’s May 10th and you’ve got no idea what to do for Mother’s Day. Sending flowers and buying a piece of jewelry is nice and all but, not as interesting as some of these suggestions! But then again, it’s hard to cram all your appreciation for your mother in one single day. Her Campus is here to make sure your mom sees the effort and love that you’ve put in on this special day!!

1. SHOPPING

Moms are some of the best people to shop with. Why not treat the number one woman in your world to a new wardrobe for spring? If you want to surprise her, but don’t know exactly what to get, stores such as Nordstrom offer a Mother’s Day Guide for people looking for awesome gift ideas.

2. Treat her to Dinner

Whenever you and your mom dined out, it was probably her who paid, right? Take the load off of mom and reach for the check! As you know, Philadelphia has a wide-ranging restaurant scene. Many of these places are fantastic for your mom. Try a restaurant that you two have never been to before! It’ll make the time with her a much more fun and memorable experience.

3. Cruise Around the City

If you’re feeling a bit more fancy, why not whisk your mom away on an awesome cruise by Penn’s Landing! Moms are good at figuring things out, but we promise she won’t see this one coming. Enjoy music, dancing, and food on a huge boat. What more could she ask for? But hurry, tickets go fast!

4. Get Your Run On

Philadelphia’s 25th Annual Komen Race for the Cure falls on Mother’s Day. Take mom on a run (or walk) through Philadelphia while raising money and awareness for breast cancer. The deadline to register is April 27th! Let’s make a difference this Mother’s Day.

5. Game Night!

Perhaps the most laid back out all of the options, game night is the perfect opportunity to become closer with your mom while having pure fun. Order some pizza and crank out Jenga and Pictionary. You can even tell your friends to come with their moms. Make a night out of it!

While Mother’s Day is certainly not long enough to express how much our moms mean to us, it is surely a reminder to us that we would not be here if it weren’t for her. Spend as much time with your mom as possible, perhaps with one of these ideas, because you are the most important to her. Happy Mother’s Day!
