Are you ready for an awesome weekend on campus? It may seem like a drag to still be in class when practically everyone else has started summer vacation but CAB’s Spring Jam promises to make this an incredible weekend.

The festivities leading up to the concert occur throughout the week with the main carnival and concert happening all day Saturday, May 15th. Lancaster Walk, the Fitness Plaza, and the Armory will host the Spring Jam Carnival, which will include fun games and awesome food to enjoy with your friends. Some of our favorite University City businesses will be there including Insomnia Cookies, GoPuff, Zavinos, and Shake Shack. Drexel’s talented students will also be making an appearance as the winners of Drexel’s Best Dance Crew, DrexFactor, and Battle of the Bands will be on hand to provide awesome entertainment as you enjoy everything else the carnival has to offer.Bonus: There will also be three giant inflatables to play on! Hopefully they’ll bring back the judu set so you can finally get that rematch you promised your friend last year after they knocked you on your butt in front of everyone.

As for the concert, you should know by now that the main act is Big Gigantic with opening acts from Youngblood Hawke and Cherub. Make sure to arrive early and enter through the right place! Walk through Pearlman Plaza onto Ludlow Street (Food Truck Row behind Main Building) to gain entrance. The 31st Street passage will be blocked and you will be turned away. Speaking of Food Truck Row, Drexel’s favorite meals-on-wheels provider Cucina Zapata will be open to serve up delicious food along with Jimmy’s Food Truck and Horne’s Famous Fast Food on Ludlow as you wait for the concert to begin.

With a name like Big Gigantic, you know he has to deliver something big, and CAB claims there will be another great stage set up to accommodate a BIG production. Great music won’t be the only thing attendees can enjoy as foam fingers and rally towels will be handed out in a similar fashion to the neon necklaces and bracelets that adorned the student body last year. The winner of the DJ competition will be entertaining the audience when the doors open and between sets.

The music for this year was chosen specifically to offset the lineup we saw at Fall Fest. While that one focused on hip-hop and rap, Spring Jam will please those who enjoy alternative rock and indie. Something to especially look forward to is Big Gigantic’s ability to combine modern hits with jazz to pull off a great dancing atmosphere.

If you want to get a head start on the music we can expect to hear this weekend, we’ve pulled out each artist’s most popular music videos on YouTube.

Along with living the city life, she takes an active interest in street style, putting together puzzles and binge-watching her current Netflix obsession. She actually calls Montana her true home so now you can say you know that someone actually lives there ;). When she's in Philly, you can find her in Center City scouring the racks of thrift stores, Old Navy, and H&M if she's not on campus enjoying the multiple food trucks or catching up on the readings she put off until the last day.
