Fitness and media company O2 MAX is starting a workout program specifically for college women called the Spring Break Tune-Up and I’ve been lucky enough to try it out! You start the program 10 days before your spring break to get into shape before you hit the beach! Every day for those ten days, an O2 MAX Fitness coach will email you a different workout that can be completed itself or before and/or after one of your previous workouts. Each workout will focus on a different area like tightening the abs or firming the derriere. If you’re like me and like to challenge yourself, I suggest that you break down each workout into smaller segments so that you keep your heart rate up and prevent your muscles from tiring out! For example, you may have to do 10 front lunges, 10 lateral lunges and 100 jumping jacks. Instead of doing 10, 10, and 100, do five sets of 2, 2, and 20.

So far I love the daily workouts and was really impressed that I could feel the difference in my quads and hamstrings after the first day. I found that the workouts are even more effective when combined with a cardio or strength training workout. Since the workouts do not come with warm ups and cool down stretches be sure to warm up for about ten minutes before each workout and to stretch afterwards. I cannot stress enough the need to stretch, especially your quads, hamstrings, hips, calves since these are a few of the muscles that you will build each day. Trust me, pulling a muscle is not fun! Also be sure to drink plenty of water since dehydration can ruin a great workout!

For all you Dragons out there, join me and start the program March 12 or March 13 to optimize your results just in time for spring break!
