Say goodbye to neutral colors and matted lipsticks! Even though winter is seemingly never-ending, spring is just around the corner, and it’s about time that your makeup looks start showing that! Makeup truly is one of the greatest forms of artistry and self-expression, so stop being afraid and go to your 9 am lecture with that bright coral lip! Play around and have fun with your makeup, and keep reading to discover 6 ways to add some color into your looks.

Neon Eyeliner

Remember all those stunningly unforgettable makeup looks from HBO’s Euphoria? Honestly, the makeup artists on that show deserve some sort of award for creating one of the last summer’s biggest makeup trends, the “Euphoria makeup”. Some of the most colorful and creative looks on the show were all thanks to neon eyeliner. The great thing about neon and colorful eyeliner is, not only does it add a huge splash of color to your face, but it’s also easy to apply! Whether your preference is gel, liquid or pencil eyeliner, neon eyeliner truly looks fantastic on everyone. For a more dramatic look, try winging out the eyeliner or applying it under the eyes as well. Neon eyeliner is also a makeup look that looks great with a bare face! You can get neon eyeliner at your closest drugstore, or you can order one of Colourpop’s neon pink eyeliner pencils here

Heart and Cherry Stamps

Summer Walker isn’t the only girl who can rock a face tattoo — now you can too! Okay, not a permanent tattoo, but a stamped-on one. Pop artists like Marina and the Diamonds and Ariana Grande have been incorporating cute “face stamps” into their makeup looks for years such as hearts underneath the eyes or adorable drawn-on red cherries. If you have a steady hand and gel liners, go to town and draw on your own hearts or any other symbols. These look best typically in the space between your eye and cheekbone, or below the inner corners of your eyes. If you’re one of those people that panics and the thought of winging out your eyeliner, don’t worry — tattoo stamps are here for you. You can order some heart stamps here.

Rhinestones

One of the best ways to add a little something extra to any makeup-look are rhinestones. You can put these anywhere on your face, but they look especially good when used in eye makeup. For a more simple look, add a rhinestone to the inner corner of your eyes. On those days when you’re going for a more dramatic look, use the rhinestones to create a winged liner look, or place them over the crease of your lid. You can shop for some colorful rhinestone packs here.

Sparkly lipgloss

There are some things that are easily associated with springtime — fresh grass, gelato, bike rides, and of course, lip gloss! Ditch your matte lipstick for some sparkly lip glosses for a more fun and colorful look to brighten up the last few months of winter! Unfortunately, not all college students can afford Fenty lipgloss. It’s a shame because Rihanna’s ultra pigmented shimmery glosses create a truly stunning makeup look. Thankfully, most drugstores offer shiny glosses, and you can also purchase a beautiful shimmery purple gloss from Urban Decay here!

Bright eyeshadow

A bright eyeshadow look is sort of a step up from the neon eyeliner look. Whereas eyeliner can be a low maintenance, last minute look, a bold lid is full drama! Forget about blending out colors or mixing shades together, and say goodbye to your neutral browns and greys. Sure, everyone loves a good smokey eye — but think about how great you would look with a bright green or blue lid. Bright eyeshadow adds color to any makeup look, and it’s so fun to play around with what colors suit you the best. If you’re just using one color, cream shadows are typically pretty easy to apply, and you can pick from any of NYX’s colorful eyeshadows here!

Blush

Nothing says spring like some color on your cheeks! A makeup trend that I’ve been loving lately is using blush to create an almost “sunburnt” effect, by placing it high on your cheeks, and also across the bridge of your nose. If you’re going for more of an “e-girl” look, you can also put it on the tip of your nose. Colors like bubblegum pink and light coral are great for adding color to your face, while still looking fairly natural. Glossier has a great line of cream blushes that rub into the skin seamlessly, and you can shop their wide range of colors here.

Hopefully these makeup looks will inspire you to add a pop of color into your day looks and your night looks! Just remember that a neon green eyeliner look is ALWAYS superior to a plain black winged liner.
