On Thursday, May 19th at 8 p.m., XFINITYLive! presented their Social Art event. Although there were several other events happening at the complex that night, the art event stole the show.

Four young artists began setting up their stations at around 5:30 p.m. to the sounds of Troy Kaiser warming up for that night’s sets. Androckitis Art, Aye!CRTV, Seek One, and Hovnation Creations filled tables with pieces they were hoping to sell that night. Doors opened at 7 p.m. and although the show wasn’t set to start until 8 p.m., the crowd could not contain their excitement.

Well before 8 p.m., the small room containing the four mini exhibits were packed with patrons, friends, families and anxious entrepreneurs.

Tanya Hovnanian showcased her self-made jewelry on her business’s table. Hovnation Creations features unique jewelry from rings to bracelets to necklaces. Her pieces are designed with beads, stones and chains to create an earthy look.

Androckitis Art had a setup containing T-shirts, adult coloring books, stickers, sneakers, prints, original paintings and drawings, all composed by artist Kat Androckitis. Her collection also consisted of a collaborative painting with friend and fellow artist Sean Allen.

Allen’s brand of art follows more of a graffiti style. His company, AYE!CRTV was set up with several larger pieces, many recreating the likeness of famous people, like Albert Einstein and Marilyn Monroe.

Seek One Art, headed by Rob Dugan, showcased more graffiti and pop-art pieces on the other side of 1100 Social. Dugan’s website says that he gets his inspiration for his works from artists such as Roy Lichtenstein and Keith Haring.

It is safe to say that XFINITYLive!’s first Social Art show was a success for both the artists and the customers. Do you have an event you want us to review or preview? Let us know!
