What are three words you would use to describe yourself?

Friendly, creative, and sarcastic.

What’s your favorite feature about yourself?

My smile. It’s almost always genuine ;)

What advice would you give to young girls?

Don’t ever be afraid to be yourself. Eventually everyone will want a unique trait and it’s much easier to learn that lesson early on.

How do you define “beautiful”?

I use “beautiful” to describe situations more than I do people, because so often beauty is determined by physical features, which isn’t what I enjoy judging. A situation that makes me tear up or really tugs at my heartstrings, that’s beautiful. Someone helping a stranger or rescuing a neglected puppy, that’s beautiful.

Who was the best female role model for you when growing up and why?

I think my favorite role model was Mia Hamm. I played soccer from kindergarten to 11th grade so she was a great person to look up to.

What’s the best thing about being a woman in your opinion?

When you first interact with someone, they aren’t intimidated because you’re a woman. It’s always nice to prove them wrong.

What’s one challenge you’ve faced as a woman? How did you combat it?

Due to my short stature and younger-looking features, it is often assumed that I’m overly sensitive and naive. Once they hang out with me for more than 5 minutes, my sarcastic and witty side comes out and it really shocks them. They don’t expect something like that to come from such a tiny person, but I think it really helps them learn not to assume anything about a woman just based on her appearance.

What’s one stereotype about females that you want to counteract?

That caring about our appearance negates our intelligence. I don’t know who decided that a woman could only be one or the other, but it certainly is not true. Amal Clooney anyone?

What are your #goals for the future?

I want to find a career that I enjoy and then also find people to enjoy my life with, whether it be good friends, a family, or both. When I’m 30 I hope to be happy with my current situation, whatever that may be.

Why do you #LoveYourself?

My life experiences have made me who I am today and I wouldn’t have it any other way. I’m not perfect but for where I am in my life, I’d say I’m doing pretty well and that is exactly where I want to be.

Lindsey is a senior at Drexel University, majoring in operations management & bus. analytics. She has been with Her Campus Drexel for four years and was CC for the middle two. Along with living the city life, she takes an active interest in street style, putting together puzzles and binge-watching her current Netflix obsession. She actually calls Montana her true home so now you can say you know that someone actually lives there ;). When she's in Philly, you can find her in Center City scouring the racks of thrift stores, Old Navy, and H&M if she's not on campus enjoying the multiple food trucks or catching up on the readings she put off until the last day.
