Five Instagrammable Spots in Philadelphia

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Drexel chapter.

The City of Brotherly Love: birthplace of America and hands-down one of the best Instagrammable cities. From the murals on every city block to the famous Rocky steps, almost every square inch of Philadelphia is snapshot worthy. However, to save you some time, here is a compact list of the most Instagrammable spots in the City of Brotherly Love.

City Hall

Like a beacon, pushing through the clouds on any given day, City Hall is one of the most iconic elements of Philadelphia. Entering the city, the statue of William Penn is visible from almost anywhere, letting you know you’re now in cheesesteak territory. The distinct architectural style emits serious European vibes. Who says you need to go to Paris to capture an incredible architecture shot?

Center City

The towers in Center City will simply take your breath away. Step inside the Comcast Center to catch a free show inside the Universal Sphere. If you’re down for shopping, the new Fashion District mall features a plethora of photo-worthy spots such as the giant Philadelphia postcard and a sequin wall.

Chinatown

Chinatown is so full of life and is constantly bustling. The spattering of colors in every corner of every street will have you in awe. Just as with any Chinatown across America, there is a giant arch that greets you, beckoning you to snap a picture of its exquisite beauty. The little markets will blow you away with their displays, especially during the summer days.

Philadelphia Museum of Art

Rocky steps aside, the Museum of Art is a must-see when visiting Philadelphia. From the ceremonial tea house to the golden statue of Diana to the rooms upon rooms of art collections from England to Japan, you will easily spend hours in this museum. If you’re a student, there is a discount, and on the first Sunday of every month, you can pay whatever amount you wish as admission.

The Murals

Thanks to the creation of Murals Arts Philadelphia, the city is full of vibrant, exciting and beautiful murals. You simply can’t walk down any street without encountering a mural. One of my absolute favorite murals is located in West Philadelphia, entitled A Love Letter to You and is best viewed from the train. My other favorite mural is the Garden of Delight in Center City, overlooking one of the many community gardens throughout the city.

While there are a plethora of Instagrammable spots in Philadelphia, these are some of the best if you have only a few hours in the city. Chances are, you’ll find even more places to snap a photo along the way! Happy exploring!
