Fall Playlist: 20 Songs Every Girl Should Have on Repeat

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Drexel chapter.

Since hot girl summer is “technically” over, it’s time to update your playlist for cozy sweater weather!

“Lights Up” by Harry Styles

Harry Styles’ highly anticipated single definitely did not disappoint, and it’s the perfect song to get you motivated to start your paper!

“Tonight” by Summer Walker

Summer Walker has the perfect voice for rainy autumn days. In “Tonight,” she croons over wanting to spend time with her man and take a break from her fast-paced lifestyle.

“Roll With Us” by Doja Cat

If you’re only familiar with Doja Cat because of her much-parodied song “Mooo!”, then you’re missing out. Let this song introduce you to her catchy and chill flows.

“Insecure” by Jazmine Sullivan featuring Bryson Tiller

Cuffing season is almost upon us, so let “Insecure” warn you of the troubles of dating a guy who’s, you guessed it, insecure.

“Dead To Me” by Kali Uchis

Kali Uchis is known for her sweet, honey-like voice and catchy pop rifts, but the acoustic version of “Dead To Me” is the song to have on repeat when you’re curled up under (multiple) blankets.

“Hold Me Down” by Daniel Caesar

If any singer can capture the beauty of the changing colors of fall, it’s Daniel Caesar. “Hold Me Down” is basically a love poem, and you’ll be humming along to it all day.

“Rapt” by Karen O

It’s truly a shame that more people don’t know of Karen O, but maybe that’s what makes her so special. “Rapt” is a song that’s so personal that you’ll feel like you’re hearing about your friends’ latest guy problems.

“Shea Butter Baby” by Ari Lennox featuring J. Cole

Ari Lennox and J. Cole are a duo as dynamic as peanut butter and jelly. Here’s to hoping more collaborations from them are on the way!

“Claudia” by Finneas

Have you ever liked someone so much that you’ve dedicated an entire song to them? Well, Finneas has (Claudia is the name of his girlfriend IRL), and it’s definitely worth a listen.

“20 Something” by SZA

SZA’s album CTRL was a masterpiece, and her song “20 Something” is one of the most relatable songs out there. Especially the lines, “Good luck on them 20 somethings”.

“Binz” by Solange

Just because it’s gloomy outside, it doesn’t mean you have to be too! “Binz” will make you want to take a much needed dance break.

“Spotless Mind” by Jhene Aiko

Jhene Aiko has the kind of voice that makes you want to light candles and burn incense sticks while drinking herbal tea. “Spotless Mind” will give you a few minutes of calm on a hectic day.

“Bad Intentions” by Niykee Heaton

Don’t let her sweet voice fool you –Niykee Heaton is not here to play around. Once you listen to this track, you might just be inspired to rekindle your hot girl summer.

“Fu** It I Love You” by Lana Del Rey

Lana’s new album Norman Fu**ing Rockwell came just in time for fall. This track is just a reminder that LDR is, and always will be, the queen of making music to put you deep in your feels.

“Call Me Back” by DORA

If you’ve seen the hit Netflix show “Elite,” you might recognize this song. Here’s another track to listen to in preparation for cuffing season!

“Single” by The Neighborhood

While “Sweater Weather” might be the ultimate cold-weather song, “Single” for sure comes close.

“Monica Lewinsky” by SAINt JHN featuring A Boogie Wit da Hoodie

While this combination might not strike you as the type to be on a fall themed playlist, don’t let that fool you –you’ll be playing this song on a loop. All. Day. Long.

“Glad He’s Gone” by Tove Lo

“Glad He’s Gone” could not be any more different from Tove Lo’s breakout hit “Habits”. This song goes out to all your friends dating dudes who, simply put, are trash.

“Self Control” by Frank Ocean

No playlist is ever complete without Frank. If you’re in the mood to have a little crying session (we’ve all been there), put this track on.

“Fun Girl” by Summer Walker

Summer Walker’s debut album was so good that she deserves two spots on this list. “Fun Girl” is the kind of song that will put you in your feels, but it’ll also remind you to live your life on your own terms. Everybody say “Thank you, Summer Walker”.
