The Drexel Listen: The Hundred Acre Woods, Steady Hands & Former Belle

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Drexel chapter.

As spring term is quickly coming to a close, there are several student-run events happening in the next two weeks.  Another to add to your list of things to do during Week 9 is MadKo’s show, whose lineup includes local Philly bands The Hundred Acre Woods, Steady Hands, and Former Belle. MadKo Concerts is a Music Industry class where students handle all aspects of booking and executing a concert. Their second show this term is Thursday, May 29 at 8PM.  It will be held at the Tin Angel at 20 S. Second Street.  You can get tickets for this indie, punk, and folk vibe show for $10, but only if you’re over 21.

The Hundred Acre Woods released their record “Cold In the Morning” in January. It includes three tracks: “Whiskey Thieves,” “City Lights,” and “Loose Parts.” Their organic sounds comes from a 5 string banjo, an organ, trumpet, trombone, acoustic guitar, and bass guitar.

Steady Hands began as Sean Huber’s solo project. During recording of his debut EP, “Not Many Of Us Left,” he picked up some old friends along the way to help make his music come to life.  Steady Hands. The members that make up the full band include William Lindsay, George Legatos, and Richie Straub of W.C. Lindsay, Jacob Ewald of Modern Baseball, and Andrew Kiran.

Bruno Catrabone devised Former Belle with many friends, Kyle Sheva, Nathan Allebach, Patrick Schneider, and Mike Camarata. Their latest full length “Cathedrals” was released last February and features mellow folk tunes with soft vocals and calm guitar tones. Former Belle is currently working on a B side EP that will potentially drop during the summer.
