Campus Cutie: Mike Rodino

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Drexel chapter.

Name: Michael Rodino

Birthday: April 3rd

Age: 21

Year: Junior

Major: Music Industry

Relationship Status: Single

Hometown: Glastonbury, CT

Astrological Sign: Aries

Hobbies/interests: I make a lot of music and I work with a lot of musicians. I’m a big reader. I also do a lot of English stuff. I do a lot of reading and writing. I’ve been going to the judo club recently. It kind of depends on what interests me in the moment. And The Correspondence is a part of my everyday life.

What is The Correspondence? The Correspondence is a music review website I started my freshmen year. I really quickly got a small staff and it’s been running for almost 3 years now. We are currently launching podcasts and stuff like that. It’s really been this passion of mine.

Who are some of the people you’ve met through The Correspondence? The one I was most recently excited about. There is this indie rock band Now Now. It was really cool to meet them and interview them and talk with this group. I met Javier Dunn, the guitarist for Sara Bareilles and ended up getting to interview her – which was awesome. I’ve been able to meet some of the musicians I’ve looked up to over the years.

Biggest turn-on: Really, really good conversation is always wonderful. If you can’t have a good conversation and talk about everything and anything it seems kind of silly.

Advice you would give a girl trying to impress you: I am a walking awkward pause and will forever live in that kind of universe.

How do you show a girl you are into her? Usually, I say everything I shouldn’t. Awkward statements and acting really, really silly around you.

Celebrity Crush: Carey Mulligan – she is VERY attractive. I am a fan.

Three words you’d use to describe yourself: All I can think of is awkward, awkward and awkward. I am unabashedly a total geek.

Most embarrassing song on your iTunes: I have the entire Hilary Duff Metamorphosis album on my iTunes and I have NO idea why it’s there.

Favorite quote: There is this great line by this author John Green, “The town was paper but the memories were not.”

Summer music event that you are most excited about: Sasquatch. I think it’s going to be awesome. But more locally Firefly.

Guilty pleasure: I’m a comic book nerd. I was a huge fan of The Flash as a kid.

Best pick-up line: There is no way I could conceivably deliver a pick up line in any way that would be considered good.

What’s your idea of a perfect date? I think finding something that both people really want to be involved with, even if its casual, is better.

What is something most of Drexel doesn’t know about you: Technically I’m fluent in Latin.

What made you choose Drexel as your campus? A lot of things. I think a large part of it was I grew up in Connecticut, really close to New York. I wanted a city that’s a little bit different, so I came to Philadelphia.
