6 Vegan Restaurants You Have to Try

Are you struggling to find a restaurant with vegan options? Look no further! Here are six awesome places to go to get a vast variety of vegan dishes! These restaurants and cafes are located all throughout the city. Eat your hearts out, Dragons!

1. Vedge

Where: 1221 Locust St.This place is definitely an elegant choice for fine dining. Vedge is located on 12th and Locust Streets. It is known for its fascinating food combinations from around the world and its vegan versions of non-vegan foods like “scallops” made of tofu and “wings” made from seitan. One of its famous dishes is the rendition of bagels and lox made out of beets, tofu, and avocado! This restaurant is certainly worth a try, it is so delicious and full of special dishes.

2. Charlie was a sinner.

Where: 131 S 13th St.Charlie was a sinner. is a Midtown Village bar and café located on 13th street. It is known for its small plates and strong drinks (for our over 21 crowd!). The bar has unique decorations like sultry projections of Marilyn Monroe playing on the wall. The most popular items are the crispy potato croquettes and the Korean-style tofu, which is crunchy, nutty, and sweet. If you are feeling a fun and sexy vibe, this joint is for you!

3. Govinda’s Gourmet Vegetarian

Where: 1400 South St.Govinda’s is a low-key grab and go restaurant with awesome vegan and vegetarian dishes! It is known for its vegan chicken cheese steak and quesadillas! It is located on Broad and South Streets. If you are looking for a quick dish or something affordable, Govinda’s is the place to be!

4. Sweet Freedom Bakery

Where: 1424 South St.Sweet Freedom Bakery is a charming little shop known for its vegan and gluten-free cakes, bars, cookies, muffins, donuts, and more. A lot of their products are also free of corn, wheat, artificial sweeteners, peanuts, and soy. Some of their yummiest baked goods include banana chocolate chip cupcakes and cinnamon sugar loaf! Stop by and grab some dessert!

5. P.S. & Co.

Where: 1706 Locust St.P.S. & Co. is an all-day vegan café and bakery with gluten-free and organic dishes. It is located in Rittenhouse on 17th and Locust Streets. It has a rustic feel with additional outdoor seating. P.S. & Co. is a great place to get lunch and study! Some of their options include cold-pressed juices, beet burgers, Garden Pad Thai, mac and cheese, and organic macaroons. If you are looking for a relaxing and healthy lunch or snack, check it out!

6. HipCityVeg

Where: 127 S 18th St and 214 S 40th St.HipCityVeg is a vegan fast food restaurant with amazing choices! They offer a unique dessert called banana whips, which is ice cream made only out of bananas! Some of their popular dishes are the udon noodle salad, the jerk caesar salad, the “Ziggy Burger” (made with smoked tempeh and a special sauce), a green smoothie called the “Groothie”, and various vegan desserts. HipCityVeg has two locations—one in Rittenhouse and one in University City (close to Drexel!). HipCityVeg is great for a quick and healthy lunch or dinner!

Finding vegan friendly restaurants can be hard. So, next time you and your girls are in the mood to go out to eat, try one of these places instead! You put up with steakhouses for them, they can venture to a vegan restaurant for you.
