6 Celebrities Who Killed Statement Pieces in 2019

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Drexel chapter.

2019 was a year in which abstract fashion was embraced —the bolder the piece, the more fashionable it was deemed. Vibrant colors, a variety of textures, and vintage styles played a larger role in the world of high fashion. As we transition into a new year, we must reflect on the fashion that defined the year —more specifically, the people who styled pieces in brilliant ways. Here are 6 celebrities, of many, who nailed statement pieces in 2019.

Sobhita Dhulipala

Look to Sobhita Dhulipala to make a simple outfit significantly fiercer. On her cover of Grazia India, the Indian actress sported an acid-wash, painted, Calvin Klein jacket. Silver hardware was carried throughout the outfit, highlighted in the sick shoes —a pair of black, studded boots from the Truffle Collection India.

Aimee Song

Extravagant detail defined fashion in 2019 —the more sequins, embroidery and fur, the better. Song’s outfit exemplifies exactly what made fashion in 2019 truly individualistic and fun. She wore a geometric-patterned, sequin dress from Song of Style. Highlighting the rich, purple hues in her dress was the most divine part of her outfit: the heels. Her heels were purple, Adwoa Crystal Amina Muaddis —heels adored by celebrities like Rihanna and Kylie Jenner.

Kendall Jenner

Mixing contrasting colors can be difficult. Well, unless you are Kendall Jenner. On the sets of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, the model stunned in a pink, printed set from Area. She paired a beaded blazer (also from Area) with the set, creating a classy look with youthful color. Completing the outfit, Jenner wore a pair of nude pumps from Stuart Weitzman.

Olivia Palermo

All black (almost) everything. Palermo, a fashion icon in her own right, has mastered the art of putting together chic, on-the-go looks. Seen here, on the way to a Ralph & Russo show, Palermo uniquely color-blocks with black and white pieces. A loosely-fitted Ralph & Russo blazer and a pleated midi skirt are paired, working to accentuate the most tasteful element of the outfit: a pair of double buckle, Fratelli Rosetti shoes.

Princess Olympia of Greece

How do you look like a dream for a dinner party on the Upper East Side? Princess Olympia of Greece seems to have the answers. Pulling from a warm color palette, Olympia wore a luxurious, satin Zimmermann dress. To complete the look, Olympia added the pop of color we all did not know we needed: a mini, bright orange purse.

Veronica Ferraro

The word is out: pantsuits are SO in. Ferraro took her pantsuit game to the next level, wearing this striking piece. Contrasting purple and yellow embellishments are mixed on the pantsuit, and they look extraordinary together. To accent the vibrant pantsuit, Ferraro wore a variety of metals from APM Monaco- earrings, rings, and a chain necklace.
