The countdown to Halloween has officially begun (according to ABC Family’s 13 Nights of Halloween), so it is now acceptable to pair orange and black together until early November! Whether this spooky holiday is or isn’t your favorite time of year (which it should be!), anyone can slip these thematic colors and accessories into their everyday wardrobe. For those of you who are not so excited about Halloween wear (how can you not be?!), I’ve included some more subtle options for you as well.

1. Paint your nails in a tasteful orange and black design.

If you’re not crazy about bold colors, you can opt for muted versions of the Halloween colors like a soft orange with grey detailing. You could also do an orange and black combo with spider webs or drip-like designs that resemble a chemical leak or oozing blood. Pinterest is a great source of inspiration, so grab your friends and have a themed mani-pedi party instead of studying for midterms.

2. Wear funky socks.

Scrunch them down and wear them with ankle booties or stretch them knee-high for everyone to catch a glimpse of the pattern and know just how excited you are for October 31st. Choosing socks that showcase your excitement is a great option since it allows for flexibility in how you wear them. They go well with jeans, dresses, and everything in between, so buy a variety pack to keep your toes toasty and festive all week long.Find some here from Claire’s.

3. Hide little spooky accents in your outfits.

Accessories like a skull scarf or spider earrings go a long way when spooking up an outfit. Small details provide the perfect amount of accent for the more reserved Halloween lovers—most people won’t even notice them, but you’ll know they’re there. If you’re brave enough though, go all out and wear an oversized jack-o-lantern sweatshirt like the one pictured. Claire’s, Old Navy, and Buffalo Exchange are great stores to visit if you’re looking for some kooky spooky apparel.Polyvore links: Pumpkin Outfit and Halloween Scarf

4. Pair a solid orange piece with a black one.

They say black goes with everything, but everyone knows this is the only time of year you can get away with wearing an orange top with black bottoms. If you’ve got an orange skirt lying around, toss on a black top and head to class to show your spirit and your fashion sense!

5. Use a funky trick-or-treat bag for the day (or the week).

You know those cheap pumpkin trick-or-treat bags you used as a kid to collect free candy? Have some fun with the holiday by using your old trick-or-treating knapsack to carry your books for class. You’re never too old to show some Halloween spirit! If your mom chucked your favorite plastic jack-o-lantern bucket, don’t worry—there are so many trick-or-treat bags out there for affordable prices! Check out the dollar store, CVS, or Spirit Halloween to find one that fits your temporary needs.Visit here and here to purchase the ones pictured.

There you have it—five different ways to show your excitement for Halloween without having to bust your budget or break out your costume! Have fun with these clothing and accessory options, after all Halloween only happens once a year! Be sure to send us pictures of how you decided to Halloween-up your everyday look!
