Turkey is great and all, but Thanksgiving is really all about the side dishes. Here’s my unofficial, totally official ranking of the best Thanksgiving sides.

5. Sweet potatoes with marshmallows on top

I’m not a huge sweet tooth but I do love this dish. I didn’t realize until this year though that not everyone knows about this. My roommate thought I was crazy when I said I put marshmallows on top of mashed sweet potatoes. I think it’s a great combination and I highly recommend trying it!

4. Rolls

Lots of people make rolls for Thanksgiving and I think it’s always a good idea. Thanksgiving is all about carbs and rolls are the best way to go. One of my favorite Thanksgiving memories has to be when my mom wanted to make popovers and we made way too much batter so we were baking popovers for days after Thanksgiving. A simple mistake but one that ended up being delicious!

3. Mashed potatoes

Again, carbs are my favorite part of Thanksgiving. I’m currently on a no-potato diet since I was eating too many at school. But the diet ends on Thanksgiving! Cause there’s no way I could have made it through Thursday without a serving (or two) of mashed potatoes. I like mine smooth but it’s up to you.

2. Brussels sprouts

I love Brussels sprouts! They are one of my favorite vegetables and this year, I’m in charging of making them. They’re super easy to make and always turn out delicious. Plus, you don’t have to worry about burning them, since they taste better with a slight char on them! And you can add bacon to them and bacon makes everything better.

1. Stuffing

My absolute favorite side dish ever is stuffing. My Thanksgiving plate is always half covered in stuffing and I wouldn’t want it any other way. There’s just something super comforting about stuffing and that’s what Thanksgiving is all about. I could write about stuffing forever but I’m getting too hungry and now I want it to be Thursday already!

Happy Thanksgiving! May your day be full of turkey and these five side dishes!! Plus, pie!!!
