Name: Amanda Meinschein
Class Year: 2019
Major: Biology with a possible double major in Biochemistry
Hometown: Mount Airy, Maryland
HC: What activities do you do on campus?
AM: I am a member of MOB Executive Board, Dickinson College Swim Team, Climbing Team, Outing Club, and Gaming Club.
HC: Do you have any exciting plans for the summer?
AM: I don’t really have a lot of plans this summer because I might be going abroad! If I am accepted, I will be going to Australia in the middle of the summer, but I do plan to work as a pool operator before I go away.
HC: What is your major and what do you plan on doing after graduating?
AM: I am a Biology major with a Pre-Health track. I might end up with a double major in Biology and Molecular Biology. I’m not really sure yet. Right now it’s Biology. I plan to take a gap year, and then go to optometry school.
HC: What motivates you to work as an optometrist?
AM: I really enjoy working with people and I really enjoy biology. I had a good experience with my optometrist back home, which inspired me to want to be one. I actually have an internship lined up with him at some point! Also, I chose optometry because the eyes are one of the most important organs in the body for people. I want to make sure everyone can see this beautiful world clearly.
HC: If you could go back and give yourself a piece of advice, what would it be?
AM: I would tell my past self to not worry about what everyone else thinks and just be yourself. It doesn’t matter what everyone says, you are you.
