Like every other female, I stan for Beyoncé aka the Queen Honeysuckle Bee full of black girl magic and gold glitter. Every time I see her, whether it’s a performance or it’s her impeccable taste in street style modeling against that white wall (ya’ll know the white wall she takes all her pictures in front of, don’t play), I fall more in love with her. But what has made me stan for her even harder was her recent Tidal X: 10/15 performance which was in Brooklyn, NY that you could stream live (if you’re subscribed to it) and watch not only Mrs. Carter perform but also acts such as Lauryn Hill, Nicki Minaj, Alicia Keys, and many more.
Beyoncé performed twice times that night slaying both times. She performed, “6 Inch” which she linked into “Haunted” and my favorite “All Night”. Even though her “6 Inch/ Haunted” performance was breath-taking, I think everyone would agree with me and say her “All Night” performance was so amazing that it’ll bring anyone to tears (it brought me to tears and I was just watching it, just imagine if I was there). In true Beyoncé fashion, she captivated the audience with her live band, making you fall more in love with the live version than the regular recorded version. Her band, all showing their black girl magic is its more raw state: the glowing, the afros, being one with nature.
What got me about her performance of this song, was how passionate she was when she was singing it. She showcased why the world fell in love with her initially: her amazing voice. Her runs, her ability to hit all different notes, and just interact with the crowd in between showed the world watching why we can’t get enough of this Black girl’s magic. At the end of such an amazing she left the evening on a powerful note: we must get out and vote. She explained the importance of the young demographic to get out and vote this November, despite the inner pain the African American community has been experiencing. She then continued to explain that so many of our great grandparents and grandparents fought with the possibility of losing their lives just to give us the ability to have our voices heard.
Now how many of ya’ll favs could snatch ya’ll edges with a performance such as Beyoncé’s then reinforce the importance of voting?! Reasons why Beyoncé is the queen.
