What I Wish I Knew About Commuting
I have been a commuter since the beginning of Fall 2018 and I lived on-campus for my first two years attending Delaware State University. For those who are thinking about becoming a commuter or are a commuter, do you have the same opinions? Below are some facts that I have realized so far based off topic:
Lunch
-
Don’t forget to eat
-
If you take lunch, make sure it can stay cold for at least half a day
-
Schools have commuter meal plans
School Involvement
-
It is hard to keep up with everything from events to extracurriculars
-
Try your best to stick with whatever your a part of
Events
-
I got told it was hard for commuters to purchase tickets, but it is on the main website as everyone else
-
Typically you have to stay longer on-campus to attend events
-
Most events are at night that are on-campus
Gas
-
Plan your days beforehand
-
Set goals to make your gas last a certain amount of days, weeks
-
Gas gets very expensive commuting
-
Depending on distance, time management, and more
-
Textbooks
-
Digital: uses storage space, easy access, less car trips to exchange books in backpack
-
Physical: immediate access, more hands-on
