New Semester, New Me

By Shelynn Handy

Let’s just say that last semester didn’t quite go as well as I would’ve liked. There are many things that contributed to the less than successful semester that I usually don’t experience, the main one being that it was my first semester working AND going to school at the same time. Add being promoted to keyholder one month into the semester and a disaster was born. Now that I know what I do from last semester, there are some things this semester that I’m doing differently.

  1. I’m writing my work schedule and my class assignments in the SAME planner. I feel like my schedule for both being in the same place will help me schedule time to do assignments.
  2. I’m taking my books/iPad to work so I can study on my break. Even though it’s only thirty minutes to get things done, it’s better than nothing.
  3. I’m making to do lists. Sometimes getting the whole list done is just not possible, but I try to get 75% done everyday.
  4. I’m increasing my energy. Each day of last semester drained me, so I’m doing what I have to do to have more energy to get things done this semester. Even if it means going to bed earlier, and taking energy vitamins.

These are the things that I have started doing this semester and hopefully I’ll have a better outcome than the last.

Born and raised in sunny California but am currently attending DESU. Studying mass communications & theatre. Hopefully you'll see me on TV some day but for now, you can read some of my articles!
