My First Plane Ride

By Shelynn Handy

In 2017, I decided that I was going to step out of my comfort zone and book a cruise. I’ve never been anywhere and it seemed like the best way for me to see someplace tropical without paying a bunch of money. Of course this comes with a few obstacles: 1) I’m scared of boats and 2), I’ve never been on a plane before.

I wasn’t nervous about the boat, because everyone said that you can’t even tell that you’re on a boat. I was more concerned with the plane part because no one told me anything about how being on a plane feels.

After getting off the plane I realize that there was nothing anyone could tell me because I would have been shook regardless. It literally felt like I was on a rollercoaster at some points and I hate rollercoasters. But I’ll probably fly again because I got to Florida from Philadelphia in under three hours and that’s not possible any other way.

Born and raised in sunny California but am currently attending DESU. Studying mass communications & theatre. Hopefully you'll see me on TV some day but for now, you can read some of my articles!
